While Yato would happily tear it up, at least Daikoku is on Yukine’s side and literally keeps the god tied up while Yukine fills it out. So, a day later and both gods are unwilling to talk about or remember the incident of the day before, but that doesn’t reflect well on their characters when their shinki are handed the yearly questionnaire to rate their employee satisfaction. So, once each shinki had got their respective gods home, leaving what should have been a delightful picnic that turned downhill behind. Especially when Tenjin tried to interfere and break up the fight but the two ganged up on him and called him the laziest god ever, to which he responded first with shock and then with burning rage. Kofuku’s drunken glee and the other shinki and Hiyori’s reaction was hilarious, though. And that’s pretty much when shit hits the metaphorical fan and the two proceed to beat each other up. In her depression Bishamon finally admitted that nothing that had happened in the past had been Yato’s fault and that the death of all the clans under her protection had been her own fault. Leave it to Yato to ruin a deep and meaningful moment as he leans over, slaps a hand around her mouth and then proceeds to ‘kiss’ her in order to catch her off guard. So that was interesting! The funniest and craziest situation happened once the two got back and Yato and Bishamon finally drunkenly decided they’d had enough of one another. The two had a moment of respite when they left to get more food and drinks and Kazuma admitted that while he adored Yato, he still wanted to make Bishamon the best god around, which involved a lot of weird fantasies with his patron in weird outfits much to Hiyori’s bemusement. And in trying to be civil with one another they just ended up getting drunk within the first half hour, leaving Hiyori and Kazuma to clean up the aftermath. Needless to say neither Yato nor Bishamon got along throughout the entire occasion, despite how hard Hiyori, Yukine, Daikoku and Kazuma tried. Oh Hiyori, my darling girl, as much as I know your heart is in the right place, this was never going to work, haha! Still, there was much entertainment to be had – if Kofuku’s egging on was any indication – and it was literally like a huge family get-together, with all the drama, hilarity and rivalry.

‘Nice’ being the intended outcome but, well, Yato didn’t count on Hiyori inviting Kofuku and Daikoku, as well as Tenjin and all of his shinki, AND Bishamon and the whole lot of her shinki. Unbeknownst to the boys, though, Hiyori has invited all the gods and their shinki to share this special day together and have a nice little picnic by the tree.

It’s cherry blossom viewing season and Yato, Hiyori and Yukine have got themselves a lovely spot by a large and lovely tree. 🙂 In the end Hiyori gets everyone’s eyes on her and makes the greatest high school debut ever. And we have yet another lovely OVA from one of my favourite shows of Winter 2014, Noragami, and if the first OVA wasn’t hilarious enough, this one had me giggling for pretty much the entire 24 minutes. He wanted to go to the high school with her and enjoy the sensation together. Who did Yato use Divine Possession? He wanted her attention! Just too cute and funny for Hiyori to even be upset with him. The day finally ends and Yato is caught by Hiyori. Lucky for Yato, Tenjin has a weakness for the young girls at the school and solving their love problems. Yato and Kofuku cheer on the soccer team but Kofuku’s bad luck makes Yato set in to save the team! Lord Tenjin hears of Yato’s doings and goes to stop him. Kofuku meanwhile is having fun with the teachers and making the school go broke. Making them carry him to the nurse, “giving” out deliveries to the guys, and even becoming the star of the soccer team.

Yato goes around having fun being a high schooler and use the guys at the school. Hiyori is making her debut into high school with her friends when Yato uses DIVINE POSSESSION! Yato takes over Hiyori’s body for the day to spread the love of being a god. Haven’t read the manga so I don’t know when this ova fits into the main timeline. I was laughing almost the whole episode, just plays off well after seeing most of the Noragami anime so far. This first ova is very good, really wish more ovas’ would be like this one honestly. They will cover arcs from the manga that fit in better as side stories to the main plot. This is the first of two OVA’s for Noragami.
